research trip to call lane

Matt and I went into Leeds city centre to get some good photographs of some bars for mock ups and also to get some feedback from bar staff on our ideas so far and whether they felt that they would be successful if they were put into practice.

The general consensus was that the best way for a bottle to stand out is for it to be a different/bright colour from the other bottles or an interesting shape and that the whisky bottles tended to be the most uninteresting of all the bottles. Unfortunately the brief stipulates that we must not change the bottle itself. This limits us enormously but there are still options.
The barman in Call Lane Social showed us this bottle which has a rubber wax effect one. This is something that we had considered; (attachable decoration for the bottle), although we have not explored this fully.

Ineteresting bottles from Oporto :

The bar lady in Vodka Revolutions controversially said that bottle shape and colour has no impact on attracting clientele. She did think that our glass design idea would have a good impact on attracting customers.
